GTA residents of all religions are welcome to join Food Basics and Sayyidah Zainab Muslim Community Centre for a FREE, educational iftar event, bringing diverse cultures and flavours together this Ramadan through shared experiences and education.
Muslims are the fastest-growing religious group in the country, more than doubling in population in the past 20 years. Even so, in some Ontario communities, a child may be one of only a handful of Muslims in their school and an employee may be the only one praying in their place of work. This means holidays like Ramadan - which are supposed to bring people together - can be isolating occasions that some may feel they have to celebrate alone.
This unique Ramadan celebration aims to foster multi-faith connection amongst Muslims and non-Muslims, strengthening community for people of all walks of life while helping communities learn how they can better support their Muslim neighbours and their traditions.
Doors open at 6:45pm, with activities starting at 7pm. Iftar and dinner will be provided at 8pm, with halal and vegetarian options available. Please dress modestly.
