Come hang out in our onsite art studio! Guided by our Youth and Family Programming Assistant, you will be encouraged to explore new techniques, work with a variety of materials, and express your unique personality through art. Each week’s activity is influenced by the artistic trends of youth in the local community to provide a positive outlet in a safe and inclusive environment. We will play around with printmaking, animation, sewing, and more!
Materials will be provided at no cost to participants.

The City of Oshawa has retained BTE Engineering to complete the detailed design of Conlin Rd. E. from Walreg Dr. to Edenwood Dr. The design plans for a full road reconstruction and widening the road to four lanes. It also consists of a multi-use pathway on the south side of the road, new traffic signals at Bridal Rd., a new left-hand turning lane into Walreg Dr., storm sewer work, and landscaping. The City will also be partnering with the Region of Durham to include the design of a Regional concrete pressure pipe Feedermain (watermain).

Community members are invited to attend the public open house on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Delpark Homes Centre (1661 Harmony Rd. N.) to review the detailed design and presentation. Alternatively community members are invited to submit feedback directly to the contacts listed on this webpage. Your knowledge of the area and input can help provide valuable information for finalizing design plans.
Feedback will be received until 12 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Comments will be reviewed by staff and taken into consideration with regard to the design of the project.

Durham Region’s Black History Month celebration, Together We Rise Durham: Black History, Intersectionality and Joy, returns on February 1,2024, in-person, at the Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex in Pickering.
The celebration will feature live performances; and a panel discussion on Black history and how intersectionality and Black joy have shaped the panelists’ professional and personal lives.
This event is hosted by The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with Durham Regional Police Service, Canadian Jamaican Club of Oshawa, City of Oshawa, City of Pickering, Congress of Black Women Whitby/Oshawa, DurhamONE, Lakeridge Health, Municipality of Clarington, Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences, Pickering Anti-Black Racism Taskforce, The Township of Brock, Town of Ajax and Town of Whitby.
When: February 1, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex, Banquet Hall, 1867 Valley Farm Road, in Pickering.
Why: During Black History Month we recognize and honour, the history, progress and contributions that Black people have made, and continue to make, in Durham Region and across Canada.

Join Associate Curator Erin Szikora for a casual guided tour of Raechel Wastesicoot: Kenatentas and World-builders, shapeshifters, featuring new beadwork by Oshawa-born artist Raechel Wastesicoot and a wide selection of new work by World-builders, shapeshifters artists Alex Jacobs-Blum, Kat Brown Akootchook, Kay Nadjiwon, Natalie King, Nishina Shapwaykeesic-Loft, and Sheri Osden Nault. Everyone is welcome!

Sharing how Inuit hunting camps are sites for shared learning and joyful community-building, this interactive talk will allow participants to explore the critical role of land-based practices in Inuit self-determination, food sovereignty in the North, and the pleasures of celebrating around food. Couzyn welcomes questions and conversation throughout.
