Interested in a career in the film and television (TV) industry but aren’t sure where to start? Bring your dreams to the screen by registering for the Durham Region Film Commission’s (Film Durham) Film and Television Industry Career Fair.

This free event is open to high school and post-secondary students, and adults who are considering a new career. Connect with industry professionals and gain firsthand knowledge of the film and TV industry in Durham Region. Participate in panel discussions and experience the industry in action with interactive displays. Explore over 150 career opportunities that include: cinematography, production management, set design, accounting, electrical, makeup, locations, costuming, carpentry, visual effects, transportation and more.

New studios are opening across Canada and the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area. Film and television production volumes are rising at unprecedented rates. This booming industry provides work opportunities from script to screen to special effects in Durham Region and beyond. Creating a movie or TV series requires a broad range of skills and interests and provides many well-paying, high-quality film jobs.

Note: Registration is required. Sign up at FilmDurham.eventbrite.com. (Registration closes Sunday, March 16 at 11:59 p.m. or when registration is full.)

  • This free event is produced in collaboration with film industry unions and guilds: Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) Ontario, Alliance of Canadian Cinema Television Radio Artists (ACTRA) Toronto, International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE 873 and IATSE 667), National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET) 700-M Unifor. Other partners include Sunbelt Rentals Film and TV, Durham College, Ontario Tech University, Trent University, local school boards, Ontario Creates, Ontario Green Screen, Canadian Firearms Program, Durham Region International Film Festival (DRIFF) and more.
  • Durham Region plays an important role in Ontario’s multi-billion-dollar film and TV industry due to its proximity to Toronto's production hub, film industry workforce, supporting businesses, studios and unique blend of filming locations.
  • Durham Region’s film and TV production sites include a dedicated film studio, Canada’s largest filming backlot, post-production facilities and one of Canada’s top-10 filming locations.
  • Recent notable productions filmed in Durham Region include Reacher, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Umbrella Academy, American Gods, It and It Chapter Two, Schitt’s Creek, Fubar, The Way Home, What We Do in the Shadows, the Alex Cross series, My Bosses Wedding 2 and more.
