Canadian Council of Muslim women will be co-hosting a free family event in association with Oshawa Public Libraries on October 1st. Mayor Dan Carter will be proclaiming Islamic history month at the event and will speak briefly. We will have various activity stations: henna, colouring, craft, and information boards made by youth. Light refreshments will be served.
October is Islamic History Month in Canada, and an opportunity to learn about Muslim contributions to the sciences, humanities, medicine, astronomy, and other disciplines that have greatly benefited civil progress.
The theme this year is to share the culinary contributions of Muslims to health, wellness, social peace, and societal harmony. Find out more at https://www.islamichistorymonth.ca/
To paraphrase the essence of Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ Hadith: “There are blessings and abundance in sharing of food” and “A Muslim is not one who sleeps with a full stomach, while their neighbours sleep hungry."
In-person programs will comply with current COVID safety regulations.
